ScienceDaily: Three-week Diet-Exercise Study Shows 50 Percent Reversal In Metabolic Syndrome, Type 2 Diabetes

Three-week Diet-Exercise Study Shows 50 Percent Reversal In Metabolic Syndrome, Type 2 Diabetes: "Three-week Diet-Exercise Study Shows 50 Percent Reversal In Metabolic Syndrome, Type 2 Diabetes

Obese and overweight individuals suffering metabolic syndrome and Type 2 diabetes showed significant health improvements after only three weeks of diet and moderate exercise even though the participants remained overweight.

'The study shows, contrary to common belief, that Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome can be reversed solely through lifestyle changes,' according to lead researcher Christian Roberts of University of California, Los Angeles.
'This regimen reversed a clinical diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome in about half the participants who had either of those conditions. However, the regimen may not have reversed damage such as plaque development in the arteries,' Roberts said. 'However, if Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome continue to be controlled, further damage would likely be minimized and it's plausible that continuing to follow the program long-term may result in reversal of atherosclerosis.'
'The results are all the more interesting because the changes occurred in the absence of major weight loss, challenging the commonly held belief that individuals must normalize their weight before achieving health benefits,' Roberts said. Participants did lose two to three pounds per week, but they were still obese after the 3-week study. "

  • ***The daily diet was low fat (12-15% of calories), moderate protein (15-20% of calories), and high in unrefined carbohydrates (65-70% of calories) and fiber (more than 40 grams)***

Firstly this is the food Pyramid, and in my research I found out that the Grain industry actually provides grants to the Scientist that designed the food pyramid (just saying) Also Farmers fatten their cattle and Pigs by feeding them more Carbohydrates and make them lean by feeding them more protien and fat (also, just saying)

Secondly Calories is what happens when you set something on fire in the Lab. The Body is a Chemical reaction so Calories are useless measurement but Grams of Fat,grams of Protien and grams of Suagar are important

*****Natural foods -- whole grains (five or more servings daily),****

at 6 teaspoons of sugar per 1/2 cup of brown rice,1/2 cup of pin head oats, or a slice of Multigrain bread this is 30 teaspoons of Sugar that insulin will turn to body fat

    ***vegetables (four or more servings)***

Wood and Water, not a problem

***and fruits (three or more servings) -- were the main source of daily carbohydrates.***

3 teaspoons of sugar in 1/2 a bannana, 1 small apple, 7 grapes and at least 9 teaspoons of Sugar that Insulin will turn into body fat

****The sources of protein were plants (such as soy, beans, and nuts******

These sources of protiens have carbohydrates associated with them about a teaspoon for 6oz of soy beans and up two 6 teaspoons for some nuts

***nonfat dairy (up to two servings daily),****

Milk is 3 teaspoons of sugar per 80z no matter % of fat and Homogenized milk fat bypasses digestion and acts like battery acid causing damage to kidneys, pancreas, liver, and heart.

***and fish and poultry (3.5-ounce portion once a week and in soups and casseroles twice a week).****

a Cell is made of protien, fat, minerals, and water so not consuming enough makes the body have to canibalize itself for it if enough isn't eaten...as in 4-6 ounces a day, more if you are building mussles

***remainder of the calories came from fat with a polyunsaturated-to-saturated fatty acid ratio of 2.4 to 1.****

Huh?. Essential fatty acids should be about 2000mg a day having 4 times more omega 3 then omega 6...the body makes omega 9. Hemp Seed oil from the health food store is a good way to get it if you don't like eating fat. Fish oil is "dead" besides gross

***"Aside from meat and dairy, the study participants could eat as much as they wanted,"****

I know I used to eat 6 cups of rice a day (56 teaspoons) with 3 meals (it's a Hawaii thing), and Bread (wholegrain) was 2 slices per sandwich and at least 2 of those (24 teaspoons) and then I take my Milk as Iceream (10 teaspoons) and I love bannanas and ate 2 (24 teaspoons),etc, etc

And then I wonder why my sugar is 426 and I have to take 20r,40mhp, and 2 pills 2 times a day even though I am "eating Heathy' (according to the grain Company supported government scientist) and am still fat even though I am excercising 30 minutes a day?

What to do? Turn the Pyramid upside down so you are eating 4-6 ounces of meat,2000mg of pure "building block" fats, and as much vegtables as you like excluding corn(starch),Potatoes(starch)tomatoes(fruit),Winter squash and most beans.

You minimize fruit, grains, and raw sugar as much as possible as even one teaspoon of it over the 80mgl that is not needed will cause a insulin response after a time and cause that eaten sugar into fat

If they did this the subjects might have lost weight the way I did. Of course suddenly my blood sugar was 56 cause I wasn't eating all that hidden sugar...lol

  • oops sorry, meant that omega 6 needs to be 4 times more then Omega three in Essential fatty acids.
